VANCOUVER SUN: The Irish Rovers 50th Anniversary Tour

Get ready for a reel good party. The Irish Rovers, renowned for rambunctious, humour-filled performances, celebrate their 50th anniversary and St. Patrick’s Day, and play one of the last concerts of their final tour. After decades touring the world, the group, which formed in Toronto in 1965, and has released more than 40 albums, starred in three television shows, and recently enjoyed the thrill of a viral video — its Drunken Sailor topping 17 million hits — plans to focus on festivals and special events. “After two years, if we’re bored, we’ll be like Cher and we’ll do another farewell tour,” promises founding member George Miller, 65.
